Jerry Lewis Collapses - Jerry Lewis collapses at Friars Club event, jerry lewis collapses, Jerry Lewis was taken to a Manhattan hospital Tuesday night after he collapsed at the Waldorf Astoria hotel.The comedian, 86, was at a Friars Club event, hosted by Alec Baldwin, when low blood sugar caused him to collapse shortly before he was to take the stage, reports The New York Post.


Lewis was to accept the Applause Award and present Tom Cruise with the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award.

The Post reports that Lewis was treated and released.

Lewis has been battling health issues in recent years, including prostate cancer, Type 1 diabetes, pulmonary fibrosis and heart disease.

Cruise, meanwhile, brought along two of his kids — Connor, 17, and Suri, 6, —who watched their father receive the Club's top honor. Cruise is in good company: The Entertainment Icon Award has been handed out to only three other stars —Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant and Douglas Fairbanks.
