Steve Carell Guest On The Office

Steve Carell Guest On The Office, Michael Scott has left the building and it looks like he’s not coming back. Ever. Steve Carell, who portrayed Dunder Mifflin’s beloved but painfully awkward manager for seven seasons on The Office, told The Los Angeles Times he has no plans to return to the NBC comedy.

“Do you really think that people want to see Michael Scott again? I think the people who say they want to see Michael Scott reappear would be ultimately slightly disappointed,” he said. “And I think in a way it’s better to imagine where Michael and Holly are at this point than actually see it.”

Michael left the paper company, and Scranton, for good when he proposed to Holly (Amy Ryan) and the two moved to Colorado to be closer to her family. Since his departure, Michael was replaced by Robert California (James Spader) briefly before Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) took over. This coming season will see the departure of Mindy Kaling, for her new Fox show The Mindy Project, as well as showrunner Paul Lieberstein, who will be working on a proposed spin-off for Dwight (Rainn Wilson).

“It’s like, once you graduate from college, you don’t want to be that guy two years out who’s sleeping on the dorm floor,” he said.

Carell currently stars in the romantic comedy Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and will appear in the August release Hope Springs.
